The Core Research Team

Signalton Technology was founded by Reyhan Ergün and Dr. Nail Çadallı, who together had had over 50 years of research and development experience in digital embedded system design, software development, signal analysis and advanced algorithm development. Both of the founders work as part of the R&D staff of the company. Dr. Çadallı also works as the managing director.

Nail Çadallı, Ph.D.

Dr. Çadallı worked as a postdoc in the Coordinated Science Laboratory of UIUC and then as a research engineer for Phonak Hearing Systems at Urbana-Champaign. His work at Phonak focused on development of audio scene analysis and localization algorithms for binaural hearing instruments. During that work, he was also affiliated with the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology and the Coordinated Science Laboratory of UIUC as a visiting assistant professor.

Before founding Signalton Technology, he worked for the defense industry from 2005 to 2017 at the R&D departments of the companies Optimal Software Electronics Engineering Inc. and Karel Electronics Inc. at the tech/research parks of Middle East Technical University (METU) and Bilkent University. During that time, he worked on signal analysis, electronic intelligence, radar signal processing, audio array signal processing, audio scene analysis and noise reduction. He is the inventor in various patents on hearing systems, audio signal processing and smart sensor systems. Dr. Çadallı serves in the advisory board of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bilkent University.

Mrs. Reyhan Ergün (Ph.D. Candidate)

  • High school: Ankara Science Lycée, 1987
  • B.S. : Electrical and electronics engineering, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, 1991
  • M.S. : Electrical and electronics engineering, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, 1995
  • Ph.D. : Electrical and electronics engineering, Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, (2014 – expected 2020)

From 1991 to 2013, Mrs. Ergün worked for the military defense company ASELSAN, which is one of the prominent engineering companies in Turkey. Her work included system design, communication architectures and protocols, firmware and embedded software development, software management, single-board computer design and real-time operating systems.

Since 2014, she has been in the Ph.D. program at Bilkent University. Her research focuses on compressive sensing, machine learning and deep learning algorithms.

Bülent Mutlugil, Ph.D.

  • High school: Ankara Science Lycée, 1970
  • B.S. : Electrical and electronics engineering, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, 1975
  • M.S. : Electrical and electronics engineering, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, 1979
  • Ph.D. : Physics, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, 1992

From 1986 to 2018, Dr. Mutlugil worked for TÜBİTAK BİLTEN (Information Technologies Research Institute of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), and the companies ELIMKO Inc. and Karel Electronics Inc. His work included system design and integration, electronic hardware design, aerospace, robotics, telecommunication and R&D project management.

Okan Demir, Ph.D.

  • B.S. : Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mersin University, Mersin, Turkey, 2012
  • M.S. : Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, 2014
  • Ph.D.: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, 2020

Dr. Demir’s main research interests are system modeling, optimization and optimal control. During his PhD, he developed optimal actuator/sensor placement algorithms and numerical methods for controller design. He is an expert in algorithm design and embedded system development.
